Letters, 1826-1868.

Letters, 1826-1868, between Reverend James Rowe and his future wife Malinda and with his sons Andrew and J. Bascomb. The Reverend discusses religion and his travels in the South, especially Ala., and entreats his sons to follow his strict moral code. The boys discuss their care and upkeep in Ohio, religious movements, school and their efforts to live up to their father's expectations. Later correspondence focuses on the murder of J. Bascomb and the grief of James and Andrew, Andrew's attendance at Ohio Wesleyan and travels through Ohio, family news and health, and his later experiences with farming. The farming letters contain a great deal of information concerning the planting of different crops and the agricultural markets in Fla. and Ill.
